The finest rose-water is obtained by distillation of the fresh rose petals. It should be clear and colourless, and it is used for value medicinal purpose. It is employed medicinally for the preparation of an infusion and a confection. It is used to impart an agreeable flavour and odour to other syrups and mixtures. The syrup is of a fine red colour and has an agreeable, acidulous, somewhat astringent taste. Its petals are excellent in soap and lotion for help in treating eczema. Rose petals have antiseptic, astringent, antibiotic properties can aid in healing acne, reducing its redness and inflammation.
